Just posted this to Instagram and it turned out so well I thought I'd share how I made it! It was so simple I was surprised myself - all you need are 4 ingredients and a lot of time to spare!
I followed this recipe
Ingredients:
All Purpose Seasoning
1 Bottle/ Can of Root Beer
1 Bottle of BBQ Sauce
500g of Pork ( Tenderloin or Pork Shoulder is great!!**)
*Disclaimer: To be honest, I asked my mum to help me buy the pork when she went to the market, and to request for Pork Shoulder. But the Butcher didn't know what it was (language barrier???) so he gave her meat "near the ribs". No idea what part that is but I cooked it all the same and turned out great!!*
Step 1: Thaw out your meat in a basin of water
Step 2: Pour the all purpose seasoning on the pork and rub it in
Step 3: Place seasoned meat in the slow cooker and pour in all your root beer! It doesn't have to completely cover the meat, mine only covered 5/6 of it. Now turn it on low and let it cook for the next 8-10 hours! At this point I let it cook overnight and went to sleep.
Step 4: When it's cooked, use 2 forks to gently pull it apart - it should shred easily!
Step 5: Add the BBQ sauce! I stirred in almost half a bottle of it in. At this point you can eat it already, but I stewed it in the sauce for about an hour more, on low in the slow cooker again.
Yay! Now you have the perfect sandwich ingredient! I made grilled cheese with mine, but it'll go great with plain or toasted bread too. Add an ice cold bottle of root beer to finish off your meal!
